Libya and Congo draw 0-0 in Tripoli
Tripoli – Moftah Mesbahi
The Libyan national football team has moved to the top of its World Cup 2014 qualification group after leaders Cameroon were beaten 2-0 by Togo
on Sunday evening.
Libya, who were held to a goalless draw by DR Congo on Friday, advanced to the top of the group on goal difference, while Cameroon fell into second, Congo were left in third with five points, and Togo in fourth with 4 points.
During Friday's match in Tripoli, Libya wasted several good opportunities, including a penalty, as Ahmed Saad's 14th minute spot kick was stopped by the Leopards’ veteran goalkeeper Robert Kidiaba.
Libya have the opportunity to steer clear of Cameroon when they host Togo in Tripoli on Friday, with Cameroon facing a tricky test away at Congo.
