Smoke billows from Egyptian Football Federation building in central Cairo
Witnesses have told Arabstoday that the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Federation in Cairo were stormed and burned down by hundreds of young al-Ahly fans, knows as Ultras
Ahlawy.
They added that the security forces are trying to control the fire at the three-storey neo-colonial building, with smoke and flames still visible on the top floor.
Several workers evacuated the premises and other buildings nearby, with car owners moving their cars in fear of an attack.
Sources said the fans were angry after a court acquitted seven of the nine police officials on trial for mishaps during Port Said stadium disaster.
Earlier on Saturday, an Egyptian court confirmed death sentences given to 21 people for their role in the last February's riot that killed 74 people.
Two senior police officers were sentenced to 15 years in prison, with seven other security officials walking free.
