David Haye (R) beats Dereck Chisora in his last professional outing
English boxer David Haye has been forced to cancel his scheduled fight with Manuel Charr after he picked up a hand injury over the weekend.
The former WBA heavyweight champion was set to face the German boxer of
Lebanese Syrian origins in Manchester on June 29th, the first fight since his duel with Dereck Chisora last summer.
However, Haye claims he cannot recover in time for next month's clash.
"I'm absolutely gutted to have to pull out of this fight on June 29," Haye said in a statement.
"I pick up injuries now and again in training, and sometimes carry them into fights, but this was one I simply couldn't recover from in time. I need to rest it up for at least four weeks," the Londoner explained.
"I apologise to Manuel Charr and to everybody involved with the promotion. But most of all I want to say sorry to the thousands of fans who bought tickets to the fight.
"As soon as I am told I can resume full training, my loyal fans will be the first to know," he concluded.
