Gulf footballing chief Ghanem al-Kawari, part of the Gulf Cup inspection committee will arrived in Iraq on June 25, to witness Basra's preparations
for the 2014 Gulf Cup of Nations.
Secretary-General of the Iraqi Football Association (IFA) Tariq Ahmad said that the committee would check up on work carried out on targets set during its previous visit, which includes renovating stadiums and hotels.
The Iraqi football official said that the Ministry of Youth and Sports had funded the work to sure the country remains on track to host the 22nd championship.
Meanwhile, Ahmad disclosed that IFA's chairman Najih Humoud would represent Iraq at the general assembly of the Arab Football Federation on 14 and 15 July.
He backed Iraq's Serbian coach Vladimir Petrovi? to keep his job with the national team, adding that the association would take collective responsibility for the team's failure to qualify for the 2014 World Cup.
