Karim Rekik spent last season on loan at Portsmouth
Manchester City prodigy Karim Rekik has signed a new long-term deal at the club.
The 17-year old defender spent last season on loan to League One side Portsmouth and has opted to continue his development at the Eastlands club.
Speaking to City's official website, Rekik said: "It was a very easy decision to make, City is a great club with a great future for me. I can develop as a player and a person at this club and that's why I decided to stay,"
The young Dutchman, of Tunisian descent, joined Roberto Mancini's men from Feyenoord in 2011 and made two first-team appearances in last season’s Capital One Cup. "It feels like family inside at City, everybody is nice and they all speak to me so it was very easy for me to settle in. I really hope to be a big player for City one day," Rekik added.
The versatile stopper played ten games for Portsmouth, but failed to stop the South Coast side from getting relegated.
