An increasing number of Moroccan football fans are worried about national footballers swapping European leagues for a move to the Arab Gulf.
They fear that these big-money moves
are likely to have an adverse impact on the future of Moroccan football, considering the standard of football in the Gulf leagues isn't as strong in comparison to the European leagues.
Getafe forward Abdelaziz Barrada recently snubbed several top European clubs to leave the Spanish club for Emirati outfit al-Jazira.
Kamel Chafni also made the decision to leave French club Brest for al-Dhafra
Followers of the beautiful game in Morocco have seen their stars struggle for form and national team selection following a move to the Gulf.
Striker Youssef el-Arabi left Caen for Saudi club al-Hilal in 2011, before quitting one year into a four-year contract for a return to Europe with Spain's Granada.
National team coach Rachid Taoussi has previously frozen out several top players after they have moved to the Gulf leagues.
