Moroccan player in London 2012 Olympics
Rabat – Rachid Bougha
The Moroccan government headed by Bekirane has admitted that the results of Moroccan particiaption in the London 2012 Olympics were: “Shameful and dishonorable.” The communications Minister and
governmental spokesman Mustafa al Khalafi said in a press conference after the meeting of the government council that the council discussed the Olympic results as: “Reflecting shameful and dishonorable results to our country despite the allocated potentials.”
He added that this issue requires “a quiet reflection and an intense, total and methodological effort to correct the imbalances and restore the position previously occupied by our country on the international sports level.”
A report by the directing committee of the Moroccon Olympic federation regarding doping condemned the "shameful phenomenon" of doping which threatens the health of the runners, scratches the principles of sports ethics and ravages the elements of honorable athletic competition. The committee stated that doping " is being rejected in a timely manner whenever caught by the International Federation with close copperation from the Royal Moroccan University for Athletics."
Regaarding the outcome of the participation of the National team, the committee and the University office said the results recorded during these games were not at the level of the University’s ambition despite winning the bronze medal which should be cherised. They also claimed the existence of an: “ Unprecedented confusion campaign raised by some sides to influence the morale of the runners.”
