Casablanca stadium
Morocco’s economic capital Casablanca, which is to host the African Cup of Nations (ACN) in 2013, is preparing its security force for next Sunday's qualifying match between Libya and Algeria. A coordination meeting was
held in the city on Tuesday between representatives of the security team, the health ministry, the municipality of Casablanca, and the Moroccan Football Federation, in order to put the final touches on the security plan that will see the deployment of more than 1,000 soldiers in and around the stadium, according to security sources.
Tickets of those attending the match will be available after two days, while there are concerns that only some of the Libyan fans will attend the match due to the long distance between Libya and Casablanca. On the other hand, both the Moroccan and the Algerian airlines announced that all their flights heading from Algeria to Casablanca are fully booked until September 15, as it is expected that large numbers of the Algerian fans will be attending the game.
Some Algerian youths have launched a campaign through Facebook demanding their government to organise low cost flights to Morocco, so that they can support their national team in the decisive qualifying match.
The Libyan team has already arrived in Casablanca, after finishing a one week preparation camp in Tunisia. The Libyans are set to play two friendly games in Morocco against two Moroccan clubs in order to be ready for Sunday's game.
