
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, celebrated a victory at yesterday's opening day of Royal Ascot when Buratino gave the new-look Godolphin a ringing endorsement becoming Mark Johnston's first winner in the royal blue colours in the Coventry Stakes in front of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.
Royal Ascot is Britain's most valuable race meeting, attracting many of the world's finest racehorses to compete for more than GBP 5.5milllion in prize money over the five-day meeting.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid expressed his happiness for this victory, noting that the horses of the Emirates are keen to participate in world championships, to compete for the best titles and winners' medals.
The event was attended by Dubai Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler and Finance Minister Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, Wife of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Mohammed Ibrahim AI Shaibani, Director-General of His Highness the Ruler's Court, Government of Dubai, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai, Saeed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Meydan and a number of sheikhs, senior officials and racing enthusiasts.
