Madonna's iconic conical corset will feature at show
An exhibition dedicated to the work of Jean Paul Gaultier is coming to London. The display will be held at the Barbican in April 2014 as part of an international tour. Madonna's now iconic conical corset
- as worn on stage during her 1990 Blonde Ambition tour - will feature, alongside three other costumes designed exclusively for the singer. Pieces worn by Kylie Minogue and Dita Von Teese will also go on display.
"The English were the first ones to come to my shows and appreciate my fashion," said Gaultier. "I am super excited that the show is coming to London. If there is one place other than Paris that I should like to live in, it is London."
The exhibition, The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From The Sidewalk To The Catwalk, will feature over 140 couture and ready-to-wear pieces from throughout the designer's extensive career - most of which come from his personal collection. Described as a "dynamic installation", it will also include footage of catwalk shows, music videos and films - including clips from his late-night television show, Eurotrash.
"I didn't want the show to be something like a funeral, because for me, to be in a museum, it is for people who are dead," he added. "I am still alive!"
