The National Union of Mauritanian Students has accused the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Nouakchott of manipulating students' exam results
.
In a statement, the association called for an independent investigation, and urged the examiners to correct the results based on a clear mark scheme.
The Union said that the institution was putting the future of hundreds of students in jeopardy, adding that there was a lack of communication between senior officials in the department.
More than 100 students were excluded from the university last year, the organisation claimed, adding that the faculty had dismissed their appeals.
The statement said that the department failed to announce the results of students for more than five months, before setting them a "difficult and unfair" oral exam.
