Al Azhar Grand Imam and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders (MCE) Dr. Ahmed el Tayyeb opened on Tuesday the second international forum entitled "East and West: Dialogue of Civilizations".
Tayyeb took part in the first forum that was organized by the Catholic Community of Sant'Egidio and held in June 2015 in Italy's Florence city.
The gathering is attended by Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo, Founder of the Catholic Community of Sant'Egidio Andrea Riccardi, MCE Secretary General Ali al Nuaimi and President of the Protestant Federation of France François Clavairoly.
Ex-awqaf minister and MCE member Mahmoud Hamdi Zaqzouq will head a seminar, under the theme "East and West in front of globalization".
On Monday, Tayyeb arrived in Paris on his first official visit to France, coming from Italy within the framework of his current European tour.
