
Al Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed el Tayyeb headed on Sunday for Abu Dhabi on a several-day visit to the UAE.
During his stay, he will deliver a speech before the Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament that will kick off on Monday with the participation of 50 women speakers of parliament and the UN secretary general as well as 100 prominent world figures.
The summit, which runs from December 12 to 13, is considered the biggest gathering of women parliament speakers.
The event, organized by the UAE Federal National Council (Parliament) and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, is the first of its kind to be held in the Middle East and the Arab nation.
Also, El Tayyeb is due to chair the ninth periodical meeting of the Muslim Council of Elders to discuss a number of issues that matter the Islamic nation in addition to reviewing efforts exerted by the elders council in 2016 and the council’s working plan in 2017.
