Assistant AL Secretary General Ambassador Hossam Zaki left here on Wednesday for France to participate in a Paris-hosted meeting on the future of Iraq's Mosul city.
In statements, AL Secretary Spokesman Mahmoud Afifi said the AL will participate in the meeting out of its role in dealing with the latest developments in Arab countries, particularly in Iraq following the beginning of a military operation to liberate Mosul city from the terrorist Daesh organization.
The Arab League received an invitation to participate in the meeting that will be held on Thursday, under the co-chairmanship of Iraq and France, the spokesman said.
Amb. Zaki will present the Arab League's vision towards the situation in Mosul and measures taken to protect civilians there, the spokesman said.
The AL official will stress the necessity of respecting Iraq's unity and sovereignty, he added.
