Azhar Imam: Libyan people should unite

Grand Imam of al-Azhar Ahmad el-Tayyeb said on Tuesday that the Libyan people should unite during this critical stage. He also expressed al-Azhar's readiness to spread the moderate teachings of Islam in Tripoli. El-Tayyeb delivered these remarks during a meeting with Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Tripoli Tarek Mitri on conditions in Libya. Mitri, for his part, hailed al-Azhar's role in supporting democracy.
