
Air Marshal Mark Binskin, Chief of the Australian Defence Force, on Sunday visited Wahat Al Karama (Oasis of Dignity) memorial, to honour the UAE's martyrs and their sacrifices to defend the country and its achievements, in Abu Dhabi.
Binskin inspected the guard of honour and laid a wreath at the Martyr’s Memorial.
He then toured the memorial and also visited the Pavilion of Honour, where he was briefed about the names of the martyrs. He expressed his happiness at visiting the national landmark which is of value to the UAE and its people and reflects courage and patriotism of the Emiratis.
The attention paid by officials from various Arab and foreign countries, confirms the importance of this cultural landmark as it documents the sacrifices and patriotism of the UAE’s citizens towards the national flag, said Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoun bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Director of the Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court.
