Foreign Minister Sameh Shourky left here on Sunday for Algiers to take part in a tripartite ministerial meeting on the situation in Libya.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said Shoukry will meet with his Algerian and Italian counterparts for consultations on the developments in the Libyan crisis and means of supporting efforts to form a national consensus government.
The meeting, the third of its kind, is considered an important mechanism to follow up the situation in Libya as Egypt and Algeria are main neighboring countries which are directly affirmed by the security and political situation in Libya, added the spokesman.
He said the meeting acquires special importance as it comes at a time when the Libyan crisis witnesses an important political mobility.
During the meeting, Shoukry will assert the necessity of reaching a consensus among Libyan parties on the formation of a national unity government which reflects the geographical and political balance among the Libyan parties.
