Egypt's Mufti Dr Shawqi Allam left for Rome, Italy, Wednesday to take part in an international conference on interfaith dialogue, which kicks off there Thursday.
During his stay, Allam is scheduled to meet with Vatican Pope Francis to post him on the experiment of Egypt's Iftaa House in spreading the culture of tolerance and co-existence and encouraging interfaith dialogue, according to a statement by the Iftaa House.
Allam will also highlight efforts by the Iftaa House to fight extremism, which promotes exclusion and bloodshed, the statement said.
He will deliver a speech in the conference on the value of mercy in Islam.
