Egyptian Consul General in Shanghai Ambassador Khaled Youssef took part Sunday in the inauguration of "iFresh China 2016" International Fruit & Vegetable Expo in a bid to increase Egyptian agricultural exports to China.
In statements to MENA, Ambassador Youssef said the exhibition will showcase fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh cut and convenience items, exotic produce, organic produce, packaging, grading, sorting, produce handling and storage, quality control and technical services.
The ambassador also said Egypt's participation in this year's exhibition will be distinguished with specialized Egyptian businessmen societies as well as ten Egyptian companies taking part.
He also said a memorandum of understanding will be signed Tuesday between the Egyptian Export Promotion Society and a Chinese company which operates a retail fruit and vegetable market in Shanghai.
The ambassador also noted that talks are currently underway to sign a protocol to allow the export of Egypt's grape produce to China by the end of the current month, a step that could bolster Egyptian agricultural exports to China.
iFresh China International Fruit & Vegetable Expo 2016 will take place on Nov.14-16, 2016 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), China.
