
The Cultural Office of the Egyptian Embassy here held a ceremony to mark the first anniversary of the death of Gamal el Ghitani with the participation of Egyptian Ambassador Yasser Atef.
At the ceremony held Tuesday, Atef read out a word written by Ghitani's wife in which she expounded her husband's distinguished contributions to literature and media both in Egypt and the Arab world.
Ghitani's wife is the Egyptian journalist Magda El Guindy, editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram's children's magazine "Alaaeddin".
Ghitani was an Egyptian author of historical and political novels and cultural and political commentaries and was the editor-in-chief of the literary periodical Akhbar Al Adab.
He died on October 18 of 2015.
