Egyptian FM leaves Cairo for African tour

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry left here on Monday embarking on an African tour that will take him to Djibouti and Uganda for talks on a set of issues of common interest, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Badr Abdel Attei.

Shoukry's visit to Kampala comes to resume high-level talks held over the past few months between the two countries, especially in view of Uganda's backing to June 30 revolution and the support of Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to Egypt at the African Union.

Talks will cover bilateral relations and means of bolstering them in all domains.

Shoukry will meet with Ugandan officials for talks on the latest developments in the African continent, the Nile basin region, as well as efforts to combat terrorism in East Africa and the Sahel and Sahara Gathering.

In Djibouti, the Egyptian top diplomat will discuss means of bolstering relations in the political and economic fields as well as means of combating terrorism and extremism, navigation in Bab el Mandab strait, the situation in Yemen and joint cooperation in the development projects.
