Prime Minister Sherif Ismail chaired a Cabinet meeting on Sunday to discuss government efforts to activate tourism.
The meeting was attended by Civil Aviation Minister Hossam Kamal, Tourism Minister Hesham Zaazou, Transport Minister Saad el Geuoshi and Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish.
They probed a proposal offered by MSC Cruises to operate tours at main cities on the Mediterranean Sea.
Cruises or floating hotels are an important means for promoting Egyptian tourist destinations, the prime minister said.
MSC Cruises is a Swiss-based, global cruise company with headquarters in Geneva and Naples. It is the world's largest privately-owned cruise company.
