Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker on Saturday made an inspection tour of the power station project of the new administrative capital, which is being built with a capacity of 4,800 megawatts.
The project is being carried out along with two other giant power stations in Beni Suef and Burullus in Kafr el Sheikh governorate, the electricity Ministry said in a statement.
The three stations are aimed at adding 14,400 megawatts to the national grid by the end of 2018, it said.
The first units of the Beni Suef power station will be operational in late February, 2016, it added.
The power station of the new administrative capital costs 17 billion pounds, according to the statement.
