A Ghanaian passenger was arrested on Sunday at Casablanca’s Mohammed V airport in possession of 9,580 kilograms of cocaine, reported the Maghreb Arab Press (MAP).
The defendant arrived on a flight from Sao Paulo and was in transit to Ghana’s capital, Accra, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN).
The statement added that the drugs were found concealed in various products for children during a routine search.
An investigation will be carried out in order to determine possible international links involved in this drug trafficking affair.
The operation was carried out as part of the efforts made by Moroccan security services to combat cross-border crimes, particularly international drug trafficking.
