98 workers were arrested and deported last month in Buraimi, the Ministry of Manpower announced on Wednesday.
The Manpower Department in The Governorate of Al Buraimi has caught 40 workers in violation of the labor laws and regulations in the Sultanate last March.
“This is a continuation of the Ministry's efforts to regulate the labor market, reduce the phenomenon of hidden trade, and follow up with violators,” the Ministry statement read.
Of the 40 workers arrested, 35 were found to have irregularities in their commercial licenses, 3 workers were caught in private professions, and 2 workers had issues regarding their agricultural professions. After investigations, 19 of the workers were found to have absconded their registered Manpower roles, and 21 workers were part of the demobilized labor force.
Within the same month, 58 workers were deported out of the country as a result of their violations of the provisions of the Labor Law. Of the 58 workers, 49 had commercial professions, 5 workers had private professions, and 4 workers were found in agricultural professions.
