
Kuwait lost today Barjas Humoud Al-Barjas, a man who distinguished himself in the fields of information and humanitarian relief aid; he was 83. At the time of his death he held the position of chairman of Kuwait Red Crescent Society to which he came in 1994. Before that and since 1950 till 1973 he worked in the ministry of health, rising through the ranks, from an employee at the quarantine department to subsequently becoming one of the ministry's undersecretaries. Beginning in 1976 and up until 1992, he held the position of chairman and director general of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). He also held the position of chairman of Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) during the 1980s. In the course of his long stint in the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Al-Barjas received numerous accolades from major international humanitarian relief organizations including the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
