Iraqi President Fuad Maasum received an official invitation Tuesday from Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to visit Cairo.
Egypt's Ambassador to Iraq Ahmed Darweesh delivered the invitation to Maasum during a meeting at Al Salam Palace in Baghdad.
The Iraqi president hailed as "brotherly" and "historical" relations between the Iraqi and Egyptian peoples.
He welcomed the invitation and praised the role played by Sisi in protecting Egypt and its unity.
Maasum also congratulated Sisi on the successful parliamentary elections.
Darweesh conveyed Sisi's best regards to Maasum. He also congratulated him on the victories achieved by Iraqi troops against the terrorist Daesh group.
Egypt is keen on boosting cooperation with Iraq in all fields, the diplomat said.
