Ibrahim Mahlab, the presidential adviser for national projects, inspected on Sunday the new Assiut barrage energy-generating project on the sidelines of his surprise visit to the governorate.
Mahlab is also to inspect el Walidiya water plant and western Hadaba road projects that were announced by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi during his visit to the Upper Egypt governorate.
Mahlab is accompanied by Assiut Governor Yasser el Desouki and a number of executive officials in the governorate.
The first phase of the new Assiut barrage project has been completed, and once functioning, is expected to generate 100 million MW. The second phase is still under construction and will generate 500 million MW.
