Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab urged finalizing developments in Downtown Cairo as soon as possible.
During a meeting Saturday with the minister of urban development and Cairo governor, Mahlab called for giving a top priority to collecting garbage littered in Cairo streets and having night shifts for garbage collectors to remove piles of wastes in streets.
He added that strict measures should be taken against those stealing electricity as well as random parking lots of microbuses in main and subways.
He also called for making sure that places to which vendors were moved are provided with all utilities.
He also urged benefiting from upgrading downtown in developing slum areas in Cairo.
Mahlab noted that the performance of district heads in Cairo will be followed up and assessed to reward the distinguished ones.
