Minya Governor Essam el Bedewy dismissed reports that one of the political parties in his governorate, in coordination with a women's organization, were planning a mass wedding for orphaned and poor girls on November 11.
Instead, the governor stressed on Monday that his governorate will bear the expenses of the wedding that will take place at Minya's Roman Theatre next month.
He added that the governorate will be in contact with a number of civil society organizations along with philanthropists to prepare the girls to the mass wedding and make sure they are happy on that day.
Meanwhile, Bedewy said that Minya appreciates and supports efforts aimed at lending a hand to needy people, adding that the governorate adopts a neutral position toward all political parties.
