
The National Council for Women (NCW) marks the International Day for Older Persons.
NCW member Nadia Zakhari on Sunday took part in a celebration organized by "let's love each other" initiative to mark the International Day for Older Persons.
Within this context, visits to three retirement homes were organized with an aim to support elderly people and show appreciation to their key role in the society, Zakhari who is also the rapporteur of the NCW scientific research committee said.
Classic music was played and flowers along with flags were distributed during the celebration, Zakhari noted, adding that Armed Forces representatives gave presents to old persons.
Heba Saad, who spearheaded the "let's love each other" initiative, attended the ceremony along with representatives of the Ministry of Interior's human rights sector and the army, Zakhari stated.
She further said that participants in the ceremony agreed on the importance of issuing an older peoples' rights document, noting that the document would be referred to the House of Representatives.
