Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari pays his first state visit to China from Monday to Friday. Following is his brief profile:X Buhari was born on Dec. 17, 1942, in Daura in northern Nigeria. He began his military career by enrolling in the Nigerian Military Training College in 1961 and later attended military colleges in Britain, India and the United States.
Buhari served as governor of the North-Eastern State, federal commissioner for petroleum and natural resources, chairman of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, and army division commander between the 1970s and 1980s.
He was head of state of Nigeria from 1983 to 1985.
Buhari won the presidential elections in March 2015, and was sworn in two months later.
