Palestinian president greets Tawadros, Pope Francis on new year

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas sent cables Friday to Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese and Pope Francis, wishing them a happy new year.
In his cables, Abbas wished that 2016 could bring prosperity, progress, and welfare to the globe.
He also prayed for peace, independence and freedom of all Palestinians and the establishment of their independent state with Al Quds as its capital.
The Palestinian president also praised Pope Francis’ supportive stances of the Palestinians and their cause and rights.
