
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has mourned Saudi king Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud who passed away earlier on Friday.
"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab nation have lost a prominent leader, who had given a lot to his people and nation," a statement by the Egyptian presidency said.
"The history will always remember the late king's achievements in defending the causes of Arabs and Islam," it added.
It said that the Egyptian people would not forget the historic stances of King Abdullah towards Egypt.
"President Abdel Fattah El Sisi offers sincere condolences in his name and the name of the government and people of Egypt to the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and asserts his full confidence in King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz to complete the path of the late king in serving the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations and advancing the Arab joint action in the face of different challenges," it concluded.
