President al-Sisi invites Indian PM to visit Egypt

Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi extended an invitation to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Egypt with the aim of boosting cooperation between the two countries, said the spokesman.

During his meeting with the Indian prime minister, Sisi also discussed with him ways of boosting bilateral cooperation in trade and investment spheres along with ways of combating terrorism, said presidency Spokesman Alaa Youssef.

The meeting was held following the opening session of third India-Africa Forum Summit in New Delhi.

The Indian prime minister voiced appreciation to Sisi's visit to New Delhi and his participation in the summit's proceedings, added the spokesman.

The Indian premier also hailed the distinguished ties binding Egypt and India.

Sisi, meanwhile, voiced appreciation to India and its people, said the spokesman, adding that he also hailed the excellent organization of the summit.

Sisi also said that summit will contribute to fostering ties between Egypt and the various African countries, topped by Egypt.

The Indian prime minister said that his country is keen on following up steps taken by the Egyptian government to flourish Egypt's economy.

India is keen on promoting ties with Egypt in the various fields, Sisi said, adding that he will encourage the general and private Indian companies to visit Egypt and explore the various investment opportunities there.

Sisi further hailed the rate of volume of trade exchange between the two countries, stressing the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the various fields, added the spokesman.

He stressed he importance of benefiting from the available investment opportunities in Egypt.

The spokesman also said that Sisi welcomed the Indian delegations who are keen on getting acquainted with the available investment opportunities in Egypt.

He pointed out to the measures taken by Egypt in order to lure direct investments, including the unified investment law and the establishment of special economic zones which are launched by Egypt.

The Indian prime minister congratulated Sisi over Egypt's joining to the UNSC in the UN, voicing hope that Egypt will be the best representative of the developing country and will defend the country's interest during the period of its membership.

On the regional level, the Indian prime minister hailed Egypt's efforts and its pioneering role in entrenching peace in the Middle East.

In this respect, Sisi underlined the importance of rallying international efforts in order to provide a climate conducive to resuming peace efforts and reach a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

The meeting also underlined the importance of combating terrorism through a unified stance.

Sisi also pointed out to the efforts exerted by Al Azhar to disseminate the upright teachings of Islam and spread tolerance and acceptance of the other.

Within the framework of the distinguished Egyptian-Indian ties, a proposal was approved to transfer two Indian inmates to their country in order to complete their sentences there.
