Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has described the US Republican nominee Donald Trump as "scary".
In a speech to a gathering of the French community in London, Sarkozy said "This man does not deserve as much attention as he gets. What is so scary is the impact he has." "It makes me shudder about the state of a part of the American heartland," he added, criticizing the "populism" and "vulgarity" of Trump's campaign.
