
Indian Assistant Foreign Minister for Middle East Rajiv Shahira, chairing a high-level delegation, arrived Saturday in Cairo to take part in the Gaza reconstruction conference, due to be held on Sunday.
On Friday, a raft of senior diplomats and envoys arrived in Cairo for partaking in the conference, including US Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration Ann Richards, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, UN Mideast envoy Robert Serry, along with Mauritanian and Danish foreign ministers.
The conference, which will focus on the reconstruction the devastated Gaza Strip after the latest Israeli aggression on the besieged enclave, will co-chaired by the Arab League, UN, and EU.
US Secretary of State John Kerry, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton are planned to arrive in Cairo Sunday morning to take part in the conference.
Foreign ministers of France, Italy, Jordan, Japan, and the quartet envoy will be among the conference's attendees, which will group 50 delegations, 30 foreign ministers, along with 20 regional and international organizations, including FAO, IMF, WB, and UNRWA.
