
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi arrived on Sunday at the venue of the G20 Summit to kick off here later today.
Sisi participates in the G20 Summit as a special guest at an invitation from the Chinese president Xi Jinping that reflects the two countries' friendship and cooperation which was crowned by raising the level of bilateral relationship to full strategic partnership.
Sisi is expected to participate in the summit’s various sessions during which he will focus on issues of interest to developing countries especially means of fostering international efforts to facilitate their integration into the global economy.
He will also focus on the importance of supporting developing countries to reach the 2030 sustainable development plans as well as the developed countries’ commitment within the Paris climate change agreement.
This year’s G20 summit is held under the theme of “towards an innovative, invigorated, interconnected and inclusive world economy”.
The two-day summit is to focus on building an inclusive global economy, international governance, and economic development and innovation.
The G20 is an international forum for the governments and central bank governors from 20 major economies. It was founded in 1999 with the aim of studying, reviewing, and promoting high-level discussion of policy issues pertaining to the promotion of international financial stability.
The G20 members include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States along with the European Union (EU).
