President Abdel Fattah El Sisi left here for Lisbon on an official visit to Portugal, the first of its kind since President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa assumed power in March this year.
President Sisi's visit to Portugal falls within the framework of both countries' keenness on boosting bilateral relations.
The visit will include talks on means to promote political and diplomatic relations and cooperation in the fields of economy, scientific research and defense.
The Egyptian leader is expected to meet with his Portuguese counterpart, the president of the Assembly of the Republic, the prime minister and the mayor of Lisbon, along with representatives of a number of scientific and academic institutions and businessmen.
