Syrian FM to visit Russia this month

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al Muallem will pay a three-day visit to Russia before the end of October, the Syrian embassy here said on Tuesday.
Syrian Ambassador in Moscow Riad Hadad said that al Muallem will hold talks with a number of officials including his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, Russia Today TV channel said.
Hadad described international talks on Syria, held in Lausanne, Switzerland on Saturday, as futile and unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, the ambassador said The Syrian army is advancing and achieving success in the battles.
