Togo's president Faure Gnassingbé has said he looks forward to meeting Abdel Fattah El Sisi in the near future to boost mutual relations.
Gnassingbé was speaking during a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador Karem Sherif who handed over a cable of greetings on Christmas from Sisi to the Togolese leader.
The Togolese president praised Egyptian contributions via the embassy in Lome in 2015, said a press release issued by the Egyptian foreign ministry.
He also hailed the exchange of expertise with Cairo in the field of serving expats.
The Egyptian ambassador handed over also a thank-you cable to the Togolese president over his country's support for Egypt to have a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council, said the statement.
The cable expressed Egypt's wish to serve African causes via its UNSC membership.
Gnassingbé thanked Sisi over his Christmas greeting cable, said the statement. He congratulated Egypt over the UNSC membership.
Preparations are underway for a visit by top officials of the Arab Contractors to Togo where the Egyptian firm is carrying out a highway project.
