
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon extended his condolences to Saudi Arabia following the death of King Abdullah ben Abdul Aziz Saud on Friday.
A UN statement said the secretary general "has learnt with sadness of the passing of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah ben Abdel Aziz He praised his leadership, saying the Saudi kingdom had achieved "remarkable progress and prosperity for its people" under his rule.
He also paid tribute to the King's efforts to address regional and international challenges during a time of rapid change, as well as promote dialogue among world's faiths.
King Abdullah left a "tangible legacy" that can point way towards peace in the Middle East, Ban said.king in the statement.
