A 17-member delegation of the UN Security Council left here on Sunday winding up a two-day visit to Egypt during which they met with Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and permanent delegates of the Arab League.
A reliable source at Cairo International Airport said four members left for Jordan, while 13 others left for New York on board an EgyptAir flight.
The UNSC delegation embarked on a visit to Cairo on Friday coming from Nairobi as part of the Egyptian initiative floated during Egypt's presidency of the UNSC to hold a joint meeting between UNSC members and the Arab League in line with Chapter 8 of the UN Charter on cooperation between international and regional organizations.
The visit aimed at allowing UNSC members to get briefed on the vision of the Arab League permanent delegates and Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Arabi on the Arab issues floated at UNSC.
