
Commander of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF)'s Royal Medical Services, Major-General Professor Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, praised the support of Al-Mebarra Al-Khalifiya Foundation, represented in Her Highness Shaikha Zain bint Khalid Al Khalifa the Chairperson of the Foundation's Board of Trustees donated to purchase insulin pumps from fund of the late Her Highness Shaikha Moza bint Hamad Al Khalifa.
The BDF hospital was the first hospital to install insulin pumps for medical treatment of diabetic patients.
Pediatrician Consultant Dr. Haya Al-Khayyat said that a working team had been formed in the Hospital, several training workshops were organized for patients and parents on how to use the device. A patient will be admitted in hospital for only two days of observation and upon installation of insulin pump to adjust glucose levels and afterwards the patient will be issued further instructions upon discharge.
The hospital has launched a 24/7 Hotline to provide support and consultation by the work team to patients.
The Fund of the late Her Highness Shaikh Moza bin Hamad Al Khalifa represented by her daughters have given the hospital a generous donation to purchase insulin pumps.
