
The Council of Arab Health Ministers concluded its 41st session here on Thursday at the headquarters of the Arab League’s Secretariat General under Libya . The Council has entrusted its technical secretariat to continue providing the necessary health needs to the syrian refugees and displaced in neighbouring countries and offering a financial support worth $ 200,000 to support the health conditions of the syrian refugees in Egypt. Qatar’s Public Health Minister HE Abdullah bin Khalid Al-Qahtani, led Qatar’s delegation to the meeting. Delegates from the Executive Office member states , namely Qatar, Libya, Iraq, Egypt, Tunisia, Palestine , Somalia, and Oman attended the meeting . During the meeting, the council also discussed the health and humanitarian conditions in Palestine and decided to offer $ 100,000 to meet the urgent medical needs to the palestinian health sector . It also approved the Arab strategy to combat AIDS as a strategic arab framework to response to AIDS stressing the importance of committing to the 10th strategic goals listed in the strategy. Itl also reviewed preparations for the Arab economic and social development summit scheduled to be held in Tunis at the beginning of the next year and meetings of the health ministers of Arab countries and countries of South America scheduled to be held in Peru on April 2. The Arab League Secretary General Dr. Nabil Al-Arabi called in his opening speech on Arab health ministers to exert all human and health efforts to alleviate the sufferings of the Syrian people and provide health aid in Palestine, Somalia, Yemen and the Comoros.
