
Head of Doctors at Al Slamaniya Medical Complex in Bahrain Dr. Mohammed Al Awadi has denied the presence of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus, confirming that the country is free from the disease. Dr. Al Awadi said all the suspected cases, showing the symptoms of common cold, have been isolated and undergone the necessary tests to make sure that they have tested negative for coronavirus, pointing out that the symptoms include fever and cough which may be accompanied by shortness and difficulty in breathing and, sore throat or nasal congestion. He added that all the examinations conducted on the suspected cases brought to Al Salmaniya Medical Complex have tested negative for the virus, adding the number of samples tested for coronavirus since 2013 to date, reached 593 samples, of which 352 in 2014 and all tested negative for coronavirus. Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is viral respiratory illness. It is caused by a coronavirus called MERS-CoV. Most people who have been confirmed to have MERS-CoV infection developed severe acute respiratory illness. They had fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
