A new study has revealed that cutting the consumption of sugary soda drinks is the easiest way for obese people to lose weight. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, caloric intake from sugar-sweetened beverages has reached 15 percent among some population groups, and the average adolescent US male consumes around 357 calories a day from sugary beverages. People with a genetic tendency towards obesity appear to be harmed more and gain more weight by regular soda consumption, than those without the genes, the study added. No direct links have been found between childhood obesity and sugary beverage consumption.
