The ministers of industry and health announced on Thursday that a draft law is being prepared for establishing Egypt's first higher authority of medicine.
During a joint meeting, Minister of Industry and Trade Tarek Qabil and Minister of Health Ahmed Emadeldin Radi said the planned body is expected to organize the drug industry including the manufacturing of medical supplies in Egypt.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Export Council of Medical Industries (ECMI) and Chamber of Pharmaceutical Industries.
It took up issues and challenges facing the cosmo-pharmaceutical and medical supplies industry in Egypt.
The minister of industry urged to take proper decisions that promote the manufacturing and the customers, Kabil said.
Radi also said the draft law is a priority to the health ministry to help save the vital industry and enhance medical services provided for the public.
