To celebrate World Food Day, Dubai Customs, DC, in collaboration with the Health Factory Centre and iCare, organised health activities at its headquarters today.
Activities included distribution of healthy meals to employees from DC and outside, performing medical tests like weight measurement and Body Composition Analysis, providing tips on healthy eating and habits, in addition to distributing brochures and vouchers.
Maryam Al Shamsi, Head of Dubai Customs’ Ladies Committee, said that DC’s marking of World Food Day, celebrated every year on October 16th, is aimed at raising awareness of the issues behind poverty and hunger, as well as general health.
She added that members of the Ladies Committee distributed healthy food samples to employees, as part of their effort to spread awareness of the importance of consuming healthy, well-balanced meals.
World Food Day is marked every year around the world on October16th in honour of the date of the founding of the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organisation. The day is celebrated widely by many other organisations concerned with food security, including the World Food Programme and the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
