A Public Health Services delegation from the Dubai Municipality visited the sub-regional GCC and Yemen office for the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) in Abu Dhabi. The visit aimed to discuss methods of cooperation and coordination in related matters. The delegation was received by FAO's sub-regional Coordinator for the Gulf Cooperation Council States and Yemen, Abdu Gasem Al-Assiri and other FAO specialists . The two parties discussed the possibilities of the FAO supporting Dubai Municipality's efforts to set up a feasibility study concerning livestock health and production sustainability, in co-operation with the Ministry of Environment and Water. The Dubai Municipality delegation highlighted the role of the Organisation in supporting animal health and production in the UAE. The delegation looks forward to further support for Municipality projects, noting the importance of benefiting from available expertise in the region in the research and study sector, and animal health related research in particular, in addition to fodder, training veterinary skills, abattoir skills and public health pest control. On a related matter, the FAO Coordinator affirmed the organisation's readiness and keenness to support Dubai Municipality in animal health related sectors through aiding in preparing feasibility studies, or any other required training or workshops.
